Boxer

Boxer

Boxers have it all as canines: loyalty, love, intelligence, willingness to work hard, and good looks. For a very long time, the Boxer has been one of the best-known dog breeds in America.

They are bright and alert, occasionally goofy but always brave.

Boxers move with the same grace and fluidity as the athletes after whom they are named, with a strong forward thrust.

Boxers are happy and playful animals.

They have a reputation for being terrific dogs with kids because of their tolerance and protectiveness.

They take their roles as family protectors and watchdogs seriously, and they will face danger bravely.

Early on in their development, Boxers benefit most from being around plenty of humans and other animals.

Temperament

The Boxer is considered a "hearing" guard dog, which indicates that it is attentive and vigilant.

They are respectable and assured when they aren't goofing around for you.

They are patient and playful towards kids. They greet strangers with caution, yet they behave properly among friendly people. Only while defending their home and family can they become hostile.

Numerous elements, including training, socialization, and heredity, have an impact on temperament.

Puppies with good dispositions are interested and playful, approachable, and want to be cuddled.

Grooming

The Boxer coat needs very little grooming. Boxers are tidy canines who have been observed grooming themselves in the manner of cats.

Boxers have a tendency to shed a lot but using a hard rubber grooming glove or bristle brush once a week will help maintain hair under control.

By giving it the occasional once-over with a chamois cloth, you may bring out the natural gloss of your Boxer's coat.  Bathe them when necessary.

Behavior with children and other pets

Boxers adore children and make excellent playmates for older, more active kids. However, they might be too energetic for toddlers and may unintentionally knock them over when playing.

Constantly monitor any interactions between small children and dogs to prevent biting or ear or tail pulling on either party's behalf, and always teach kids how to approach and pet dogs.

Teach your kids to never go near a dog that is eating or sleeping, or to attempt to steal the dog's food from them. With a toddler present, no dog should be left unsupervised.

Particularly if they are raised with them, Boxers can interact well with other dogs and cats.

Health concerns

The Boxer is a beloved family member who is best kept inside the house since he is not well-suited to withstand extreme cold or heat.

It is recommended that they get checked for conditions such as hip dysplasia, cardiac issues like aortic stenosis and cardiomyopathy, thyroid abnormalities, degenerative myelopathies, and certain cancers.

10 to 12 years
